We are hometown proud, babyyyyy!

We are. We can’t help it.  We’re not Los Angeles natives, but between myself and the other founding Creature of Rebellion, we have 54 years of being Angelenos between us.  We live in a place with as much diversity as sunshine, as much open-mindedness as coastline, and so much sprawling urbanity that it could take a lifetime to find all of this city’s secrets.

There’s a pride we have in our local communities. We don’t choose where we’re born, but we can choose where we stay. Many of us root and grow in the neighborhood, or certain subcultures, and we get to know our surroundings with intimacy. That is how and where the pride seeds and sprouts.

It’s important for us at Creatures of Rebellion to give an honorable nod to the City of Angels, where our company was formed and where we stand strong in our liberal views and ways of life. LA has a deep historical stake in politics – movements, marches, riots, activism, and all kinds of indelible marks on the progression of our state and country. Here, trans rights are human rights. Black lives matter. And ICE? OUT. We protect our own. We are a sanctuary city.

But more than recognition, we want to unite the political community that is LA. There are many, many groups and organizations fighting for betterment – whether that focus is on clean energy, climate, ocean, LGBTQ+, homelessness, trafficking, local or national government.

It’s s’wonderful and s’marvelous to see how many people are working toward healthy, progressive change – but we are still a sprawling city, in sprawling geographical locations, with sprawling timelines. Online shmonline – social media does more to polarize than connect.

That’s why we’ve created Angelenos of Rebellion, with Creatures being our guiding mother light. Angelenos of Rebellion is Los Angeles proud – and we hope to unite people, community, and orgs together with a single focus in mind: we are fighting this current administration and their attempt to undermine the very democracy we are founded upon. We do this together because strength comes in numbers, volume climbs to maximum, and what better glue to hold us near and dear than the love our LA hometown?

To our Angelenos of Rebellion, we’ve created this hub just for you. We want everyone and everything local to find each other here, by suggesting places, people and orgs that need our love and support. Then, when you see a friend donning the gradient glory of our rebellious logo, you’ll know to give them a big, fat hug and treat’em to a coffee.  We’re not only fighting this government, but we’re fighting isolation. We have every reason to be alone – internet, endless streaming, Doordash and Amazon. But we can’t remain alone – because loneliness is the enemy of change.

It takes effort, bravery, and a bit of grit to get to know those around you. Say hello to your neighbor and dare to get to know them. You don’t even have to be Christian to love them.

Our hope is that our hometown of LA will heed the call! Folks will gather and talk and act for change. Louder together, lovelier together. We are Angelenos of Rebellion. We can refuse fascism together, be indivisible together, be creatures of rebellion together. We can be a thriving democracy – together.
