Don’t Give Up The Fight
These Are Heavy Times.
This moment feels heavy because it is heavy. There is a continual abuse of our citizens, our laws, and the Constitution. Corruption reveals itself in the light without an ounce of shame. Each news cycle adds another weight, another reason to feel worn down, another thought that says, “Just walk away for a while.”
That exhaustion is not incidental. It is cultivated. It is calculated. They know that their endless assault on the foundations of our government increases our fatigue. And when we, the people, are tired, we stop believing change is possible, even when history says otherwise.
Political upheaval is intended to isolate us, to tell us that our anger is personal and not shared.
That we are very much alone.
It frames our resistance as fringe or even futile.
It works to embed that fear in us, in an attempt to make everything that’s happening feel routine and ordinary.
It’ll Take Time.

But history is never straightforward. It surges. It recoils. It simmers. We often wonder, how did we get here? This is why it’s important for us to all recognize that periods of repression are often followed by an awakening, not because our systems correct themselves, but because people eventually reach a breaking point and respond. We all feel it come to a boil, and that kind of pressure can create a movement that can topple empires.
Resilience is our greatest strength. It grows steadily within us. In neighbors helping neighbors. In survivors refusing to be silent. In artists using their expression for a cause. In the general public, organizing even when they are told repeatedly that they are completely powerless.
And inside those of us who choose to embrace empathy in the face of a broken system that rewards cruelty.
Martin Luther King, Jr.
“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.”
Hope is the resistance, the knowledge that these present times are impermanent.
That change is not only possible, but inevitable.
Hope is what helps us persist against unbeatable odds,
As previously mentioned, abuse and corruption depend on our continual fatigue. Once we stop reacting, they creep further out from under the rock they’ve been hiding.
This shift towards authoritarianism doesn’t happen overnight. It happens once hope has slowly eroded and has been replaced by the quiet resignation of the general public.
Giving up feels rational when wins are few and far between. It feels practical when losses keep accumulating. That feeling is understandable because it turns disengagement into self-protection, a way to keep our sanity in insane times.
We Need to Create Momentum.

But, there’s hope.
And while there’s hope, no one can promise victory. History does not hand out guarantees. Progress advances, retreats, and stumbles. Some battles are lost. Others fade away without any resolution. And so, we need to acknowledge this reality, without letting it weaken our resolve; in fact, more importantly, it should instead remind us that this battle isn’t going to be easily won, and that we need to stay motivated, vigilant, and alert.
Again, it’s not easy, but what is guaranteed is this…
Defeat becomes permanent only once we decide to withdraw. When we stop showing up. When we stop believing our participation matters. This is what these corrupt forces count on in order to remain in power.
Hope keeps these conversations alive.
Action, even imperfect action, interrupts the narrative that nothing can be done.
We are doing our part in refusing to let cynicism become the norm. In remembering that every shift began with people who kept on going when success felt nearly impossible.
Politics, especially today’s politics, are on a pendulum.
The pendulum doesn’t swing on its own. WE have to push it. Not all at once. Not in unison. But steadily and relentlessly. And every one of us who adds to the momentum is an inspiration to others that there is always hope, encouraging them to join in the resistance, and help us push as well.
You aren’t required to feel optimistic. You aren’t required to feel brave every day. We are all only asked to remain present. To never surrender.
As long as hope survives, the future remains unsettled.
As long as WE stay engaged, power remains challenged.
We may not be in power (for now), but the numbers are very much in our favor to win at least the House in November, and by doing so, hold these people accountable.
That is reason enough to keep going.
Can we do it?
Oh, hell yes.
And they know it. Just look at the polls.
Hope is on our side.
Not theirs.
